CDG & Allies - Professionals and Patient Associations International Network (CDG & Allies- PPAIN)

WP11 is responsible for strengthening the collaboration between students, research groups, researchers, clinicians, patient organizations or other stakeholders who would like to become more involved within this network. If you think your expertise and skills can benefit CDG lives, please fulfill the expression of interest available below in order discuss possible future opportunities and collaborations:

Soon to be open positions:"1st Inés Summer Internship CDG Program for Undergraduate Students" will shortly be openned.

Description:The CDG & Allies - PPAIN launches the "1st Inés Summer Internship CDG Program" to provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to conduct summer research among the CDG & Allies - PPAIN. The goal of the program is to encourage students, from any nationality, in the pursuit of a scientific career and to introduce them to an international research experience.

A maximum of 4 internship positions will be awarded in 2018.

The programme runs from July 1st to October 31, 2018, and is open to undergraduate students of any nationality who are in their final two years of studies in the Life Sciences or related subjects (e.g. Bioinformatics, Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Chemistry). The students will be working under the supervision of a group leader or a senior member of the research group.

Eligibility criteria:
  • Undergraduates with an excellent academic record and a strong interest in biosciences and biomedical research (prior lab experience is not mandatory)
  • Two full years (4 semesters) of college course work completed by the time the internship commences
  • Candidates may not have received an undergraduate degree at the time of the internship (Summer 2016)
  • High level of English
Positions will be awarded on a competitive basis taking into consideration the student’s academic records and the motivation & reference letter(s). Each student will be matched with a specific working group based on the student’s interest and background.How to apply:The following documents are required for a complete application: The application is available from mid-May 2016 to 25th June 20016. It requires submission to the email sindromecdg@gmail.com  of
  • a cover letter describing the applicant's research interests and career goals, and the names and contact information for two references.
  • a list of coursework and grades (please note: we do not need a transcript at this time),
  • a curriculum vitae or resume,

Candidates may also specify the scientific methodologies or the CDG & Allies - PPAIN work packages/working groups that interest them.

Stipend: These are remote positions. Thus, there are not financial contributions. Although, students will be awarded by the outcomes that will be delivered thanks to their research projects. Notably, publications, attendance to conferences/workshops/courses, oral presentations, patient-friendly resources and so forth.

Hands-on workshops and reporting: To complement the internship, the students will be provided with hands-on workshops, they will be required to present the results of their research in a special session, and finally, they will have to prepare a final report at the end of the internship period.

WP2 - CDG Diagnosis;
WP3 - CDG Genetics;
WP4 - Biology to guide therapies: WG CDG hematology;
